Flowr is an application designed to support real-time collaboration. It helps users collaborate with team members, share ideas, share files and links, identify trends, utilize analytics, use integration tools, and stay in touch via iPhone app.

Flowr was founded by Davorin Gabrovec and Matjaž Lipuš, who currently hold the positions of CEO and CTO respectively. Their entrepreneurial and web development skills have shaped the flowr product.

Flowr utilizes the microblogging trend used in Twitter and Facebook in a secure environment to promote collaboration in the work space.

The user’s home page is called the flow. It contains all of the communications that have been initiated by the team. The basic text editor allows the user to post status updates, ideas, or questions. Each item is posted to the flow and the user can choose who to share the information with. Pages may be created with permissions for who may edit the content. Events can be added to a shared calendar. To-do items may be listed and then crossed off when accomplished. Polls may also be created with options for multiple answers.

It is simple to upload files and add links to the flow. The site is easy to use and intuitive. A user’s flow shows groups, updates, messages, or discussions that the user has contributed to. Results can be filtered for ease of use.

Flowr is generally simple, once the user understands the use of the flow. Communication with other team members is straightforward and simple. Tags are auto-added to links for easy classification.

Users must provide first and last name, company name, time zone, Flowr site address (with .theflowr.com extension), email address and password for login.

Flowr offers several pricing plans. The Free plan includes the basic features (microblogging, file and link sharing, ideas, polls, calendar, discussions, profiles, group support, search, tagging, filters, RSS, email and desktop notifications and an iPhone app) for ten users, 2 groups, and 1 GB storage. The other two plans are not yet available, but will be fee based. The Premium plan offers basic features plus some administrative and integration features with support for unlimited groups and 10 GB storage. The Appliance plan contains full administrative and integration features for unlimited groups with unlimited storage.

Anyone can start with a free plan and upgrade to pay-as-you-go with no contracts.

Groups of five or more people who will be collaborating on an ongoing basis are best suited for using what Flowr has to offer. The flow will be familiar to anyone who has used Facebook or other social networking tools.
